Bachelor of Commerce (major in Accounting), 1989, Murdoch University, Western Australia. He is member of Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants.

Chairman and Managing Director of Firstlink Investments Corporation Limited since May 2005. A member of the Nominating Committee.

In 1991, Mr Ling joined Ernst & Young as an audit assistant specialising in financial audit of local and multinational corporations that invested in financial and insurance services, hospital and healthcare services and manufacturing of electronic products industry.

In 1993, he joined Keppel Securities Pte Ltd as Finance Manager responsible for the financial operations of the stockbroking entity. In 1994, he joined Deutsche Morgan Grenfell & Partners Securities Pte Ltd as its Vice President where he managed equity investments for high networth individual investors. In 1996, he became Head of Sales for private and corporate clients in Socgen Crosby Securities Pte Ltd.

In 2001, he was Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer of IPCO International Ltd. The company is an international engineering specialist focus on building oil terminal and concession operation of toll road. He was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the 240 kilometres toll road in Guangzhou, PRC. The project was subsequently sold to an infrastructure fund in 2003.

Since February 2009, Mr Ling was appointed Chairman of Dayen Environmental Limited. Dayen specialises in water and waste water treatment technologies, oil water separation solution and technologies, mechanical and engineering works in water treatment plant, etc.

In May 2009, Mr Ling was appointed Chairman of Communication Design International Limited which is an international outsourced and communications company that offers extensive project management services including interior fit-out for retail stores, museums and corporate offices, international event management as well as the design, planning and construction of exhibition stands.
